In 2021, PMP class introduces some Agile concepts which piques my interest for further investigating on this new project management idea. Therefore, in my opinion, Scrum Master Class is the next logical class to take in order to widen the knowledge of project management so I decide to sign up the 2021/3/27class.
Because the impact of Covid-19 pandemic, the course was conducted through web conferencing with Coach Bob from China. All students’ questions were responded by Coach Bob immediately and clearly through web conferencing. Consider the current Covid-19 situation the online learning was as close as seeing an instructor in person and was an efficient way to deliver lessons to students.
First day of the class, I was surprised by the class seating arrangement which it was broken down in a group of five in a team concept. This was quite different from other classes I had attending to before. The setting was great for the next two days because our team had to work together to complete many in class labs and group discussion. In class labs was quite simple, but they were designed in a way to get the Scrum Master concept across to student. By the end of two day class, our team went through a mini sprint of Sprint Planning, Daily meeting, Product Review, and Retrospective meeting. In this group setting environment, Coach Bob wanted to demonstrate the Scrum Master concepts through team interaction and teamwork for hands on class more than just sitting and listening to the instructor explaining.
One of statistic I learned from the class was 84% of current projects are using a hybrid concept between traditional waterfall and agile. Those processes are tools to help project managers to accomplish project goals. Since those processes are tools, and according to Charlie T. Munger, “To the man with only a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.” Thus, integrate working knowledge with project management concepts and learning to hybrid the waterfall with Scrum Master Concepts in order to be efficiently leading the project was a great take way from this Scrum Master Class. In the end I would like to thank Coach Bob and SXMC to have such wonderful learning experience, and I do highly recommend for anyone to take any classes from SXMC learning institute as I am and, you will not regret!
